New Baird's TapirThe new Tapir in the South American area is quite people-friendly. He swam over to us and when we talked to him, actually climbed up and reached up his nose within about 2 feet from where we were standing! According to the sign he arrived at the zoo Mar 28. The Tapir lives next door to the Capybara, who was also swimming around and peering at visitors, and just across from the Jaguar sisters who spend the day lounging in trees.. |
